Engineering Chemistry Laboratory

Laboratory Name : Engineering Chemistry
Area of Laboratory : 73.5 sq.m.
Laboratory In charge : Dr. Sawale Rajendrakumar Tukaram
Laboratory Information :

Engineering chemistry lab aims at enhancing theoretical chemistry knowledge through practical applications. It covers various chemical processes and measurements, often segmented into instrumental and volumetric analysis. For instance, students learn techniques like pH metering, potentiometry, and colorimetry, which help them understand chemical properties and reactions through hands-on experiments. Volumetric analysis experiments, including titrations, are also conducted, allowing students to measure quantities and chemical changes, such as determining water hardness or estimating calcium in cement.

The labs is typically well-equipped, with safety measures. It also emphasizes skills like analytical thinking and precision in chemical measurements, essential for engineering applications.

ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY OUTCOMES:
At the end of the practical students will be able to

  1. Understand and perform water quality monitoring parameters such as Chloride content, Hardness, Dissolve Oxygen, Acidity, and Alkalinity etc.
  2. Analyze the properties of lubricants viz. Viscosity, Flash & fire point, cloud & pour point and Acid value and their significance.
  3. Know and perform the quantitative analysis such as PH –metry, colorimeter and conductometer (Instrumental method)
