Team “Game of Codes” of the Department of CSE is the winner of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020, (Software Edition). SIH is a National level competition organized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), MHRD, Persistent Systems, and i4C across India. It is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, this year it was held virtually for the first time in the history of hackathon by one of the nodal center COEP, Pune, Maharashtra from 1st - 3rd August 2020. It was a 36 hours product development competition where problem statements were posed to the students for innovative solutions. The problem statements were put forward by various Ministries and private organizations. Team “Game of Codes” chose the problem statement of the Ministry of Telecommunications to provide an innovative solution for “Detecting Poor Telecom Connectivity Regions using User’s Device Signal Strength” and won the prize money of Rs.1,00,000/-.
This year's Smart India Hackathon witnessed more than 10,00,000 students competing for the initiative. Students competed to solve 243 problem statements from 37 central government departments, 17 state governments, and 20 industries.

Dr. Archana M. Rajurkar, Head of the CSE Department has been awarded as BEST FACULTY OF THE YEAR 2018 under the FUNDED RESEARCH category at the Annual Industry-Academia conference & Awards organized by CSI TechNext India 2018- Awards to Academia on 10th& 11th Feb at IIT Bombay.
Distinctions Achieved by Faculty
Dr. Mrs. A.M. Rajurkar & Mr. V.G. Kottawar received grants of Rs. 25 lakhs by BARC under the BRNS scheme for the implementation of Research Project titled, “Development of an Automated System for Musculoskeletal Image Analysis and Interpretation for Quicker Diagnosis”. One JRF is appointed and two research scholars are working for the usage of the facility developed in this project.
